Dental Crowns and Bridges in Bangkok: Prices in THB and Two Visits, 5–7 Days Apart

At HeySmile Dental Clinic in Asok, a crown costs 9,000–18,000 THB in metal, or 12,000–18,000 THB in porcelain-fused-to-metal or all-ceramic (zirconia or E.max). A bridge is priced per unit, so a three-unit bridge that replaces one missing tooth is 36,000–54,000 THB in ceramic. Crowns and bridges are made in a dental laboratory: two visits about 5–7 days apart, with a temporary crown in between. The dentist confirms your price after the check-up and X-ray.

Crowns and bridges in Bangkok: quick answers

What visitors and expats ask us first.

How much is a crown?

A dental crown in Bangkok costs 9,000–18,000 THB in metal or 12,000–18,000 THB in porcelain-fused-to-metal or all-ceramic at HeySmile. A bridge is the same price per unit: 36,000–54,000 THB for a ceramic three-unit bridge.

How many visits and days?

Two visits, about 5–7 days apart. Visit 1: the tooth is shaped, an impression is taken, and you leave with a temporary crown. The laboratory makes the crown in 4–5 working days. Visit 2: the crown is fitted and checked. Every crown is made by a laboratory, so it is not a same-day crown.

Crown, bridge or implant?

A crown covers a tooth that is still there. A bridge replaces a missing tooth by crowning the teeth on either side. An implant replaces the missing tooth on its own, without touching the neighbours, but takes months. The dentist explains which one fits your tooth.

Does it hurt?

The tooth is numbed with local anaesthetic while it is shaped, so you should not feel pain. It can be sensitive to cold for a few days with the temporary crown, and a little tender after the final crown is fitted.

Per unit, from the HeySmile 2026 price list; Thai and international patients pay the same. A bridge (bridgework) is priced by the number of units: the crowns on the supporting teeth plus the false tooth between them.

Crown or bridge: which one, and which material?

The dentist recommends one after the check-up and X-ray, and explains why in English.

Crown: a cap over your own tooth

For a tooth that is cracked, badly worn, broken down by a large filling, or has had root canal treatment. The tooth is shaped smaller and the crown is cemented over it, so it looks and chews like a whole tooth again. A crown on a dental implant is priced separately on the implant page, not at the per-unit prices here.

Bridge: replaces a missing tooth

The teeth on each side of the gap are crowned, and a false tooth is joined between them, all in one piece that is cemented in and does not come out. A bridge needs healthy neighbouring teeth to support it, and those teeth are shaped in the same way as for a crown.

Materials

All-ceramic (zirconia or E.max): no metal, the most natural colour, used for front and back teeth. Porcelain-fused-to-metal: a metal core under porcelain, strong and slightly less lifelike at the gum line. Metal: the strongest and lowest priced, but visible, so usually only for back teeth. Per unit at HeySmile: metal 9,000–18,000 THB, porcelain-fused-to-metal and all-ceramic 12,000–18,000 THB.

Zirconia or E.max?

Both are all-ceramic and cost 12,000–18,000 THB per unit. E.max is the more translucent, so it is usually chosen for front teeth and single crowns; zirconia is the stronger, so it is usually chosen for back teeth, heavy biters and bridges. The dentist recommends one after seeing the tooth and your bite.

Implant instead of a bridge?

A dental implant replaces a missing tooth without shaping the neighbours, and it protects the bone under the gap. An implant package at HeySmile starts at 49,900 THB, about the same as a three-unit ceramic bridge, but it takes several months, so it rarely fits a short trip. If the neighbouring teeth already need crowns, a bridge is often the better choice. For several missing teeth in a row, an implant-supported bridge is quoted per case; see the implant page.

Your two visits, step by step

Plan 5–7 days in Bangkok between them. Tell us your flight dates when you book.

1Visit 1Shaping, impression, shade,temporary crownLaboratory4–5 working daysCarry on with your trip2Visit 2Fitting, bite check,cemented in place
Two visits about 5–7 days apart. Plan both inside your stay.

Visit 1: check-up and plan

The dentist examines the tooth, takes an X-ray, and tells you in English whether a crown, a bridge or another option is right, which material suits the tooth, and the price. Nothing starts until you agree. Tell the dentist about your medical history, in particular blood-thinning medicine, allergies to metals, or if you are pregnant (X-rays are usually postponed).

Visit 1: shaping and impressions

The tooth is numbed and shaped so the crown has room to sit over it. An impression of the tooth is taken, the shade is chosen with you, and a temporary crown or bridge is fitted the same day so you can eat and smile while you wait.

Laboratory: 4–5 working days

A dental laboratory makes the crown or bridge from the impression. Nothing is needed from you during this time. Treat the temporary crown gently: chew on the other side, avoid sticky or very hard food, and pull floss out sideways rather than lifting it. If the temporary comes off or breaks, message us the same day so it can be re-fitted: a tooth left uncovered can be sensitive and can move, so the final crown may not fit.

Visit 2: fitting

The temporary crown is removed, the final crown is tried in, adjusted until the bite feels even, and cemented. You pay at reception in cash, by card or by bank transfer and receive an itemised receipt in English with the tooth number and the material.

If the tooth needs root canal treatment first, add 3–7 days. An infected or very painful tooth is treated and sealed before it is crowned, so the visits are planned as root canal first, crown afterwards. Tell us your dates before you fly and the dentist will say on WhatsApp whether everything fits inside your stay.

Signs a tooth may need a crown

See a dentist if you have

  • A tooth that has cracked or broken, or a large piece that has chipped off
  • A large old filling that keeps breaking or has decay around it
  • A tooth that has had root canal treatment and is not yet crowned, especially a back tooth
  • Pain when you bite on one tooth, which can mean a crack
  • A gap where a tooth was taken out, and the neighbours are starting to tip into it

Crown or bridge came off while travelling?

Keep it, clean it, and do not glue it back with superglue or a home repair kit. Message us or call 092-749-2829 during opening hours: if the crown and the tooth are still sound it can often be re-cemented in one short visit for 1,500–2,000 THB. Until then, chew on the other side and keep the tooth clean.

Throbbing pain or swelling under a crown? The nerve of the tooth may be infected and needs treatment, not just a new crown. We will try to see you the same day. If swelling spreads to your eye or neck, or you find it hard to breathe or swallow, go to a hospital emergency department straight away.

Living with a crown or bridge

The first days

The tooth can be sensitive to hot and cold and the gum a little sore for a few days. If the crown feels high when you bite, or you cannot floss next to it, come back and the dentist adjusts it. Contact us if pain gets worse instead of better.

Cleaning around it

Brush a crown like a natural tooth. Under a bridge, food collects beneath the false tooth, so clean under it every day with superfloss, a floss threader or an interdental brush. The dentist shows you at the fitting visit.

How long it lasts

Crowns and bridges often last 10 years or more with good cleaning and check-ups, and many last well beyond 15. What shortens their life is decay at the edge where the crown meets the tooth, gum disease around the supporting teeth, and grinding. A night guard protects them if you grind.

Crowns and bridges in Bangkok: FAQ

How much does a dental crown cost in Bangkok?

At HeySmile Dental Clinic a crown costs 9,000–18,000 THB in metal, 12,000–18,000 THB in porcelain-fused-to-metal and 12,000–18,000 THB in all-ceramic (zirconia or E.max). The check-up is included; a post and core, if the tooth needs rebuilding, is 3,500–5,000 THB.

How much does a dental bridge cost in Bangkok?

A bridge is priced per unit at the same rates as a crown. A three-unit bridge for one missing tooth, a crown on each neighbour plus the false tooth, is 36,000–54,000 THB in all-ceramic or porcelain-fused-to-metal, or 27,000–54,000 THB in metal. A four-unit bridge for two missing teeth is 48,000–72,000 THB in ceramic.

How many visits and days does a crown or bridge take?

Two visits, about 5 to 7 days apart. At the first visit the tooth is shaped, scanned or moulded, and a temporary crown is fitted. The laboratory makes the crown in 4 to 5 working days, and at the second visit it is fitted, adjusted and cemented. If the tooth needs root canal treatment first, add 3 to 7 days.

Can I get a same-day crown in Bangkok?

Not at HeySmile: every crown and bridge is made by a dental laboratory, so allow two visits about 5 to 7 days apart, with a temporary crown in between. What can be done the same day is fitting a temporary crown, or re-cementing a crown that has come off and is still in good condition.

Can I get a crown done on a one-week trip to Bangkok?

Usually, yes, if the tooth does not need root canal treatment first. Book the first visit for the day after you arrive and the fitting 5 to 7 days later. Tell us your flight dates when you book and the dentist will confirm on WhatsApp whether it fits.

Does getting a crown hurt?

The tooth is numbed with local anaesthetic while it is shaped, so you should not feel pain. With the temporary crown the tooth can be sensitive to cold, and after the final crown is fitted it can feel a little tender for a few days. Contact us if pain gets worse.

Which crown material should I choose?

All-ceramic (zirconia or E.max) looks the most natural and has no metal, so it suits front teeth and most back teeth. Porcelain-fused-to-metal is strong and slightly less lifelike at the gum line. Metal is the strongest and lowest priced but visible, so it is mostly used for back molars. The dentist recommends a material for your tooth, your bite and your budget.

Bridge or implant for a missing tooth?

A bridge is finished in two visits about a week apart, but the teeth on each side must be shaped to carry it. An implant leaves the neighbouring teeth alone and protects the bone under the gap, but takes several months; at HeySmile an implant package starts at 49,900 THB, about the same as a three-unit ceramic bridge. If the neighbouring teeth already need crowns, a bridge is often the better choice.

My crown came off while I am travelling. What should I do?

Keep the crown, do not glue it yourself, chew on the other side and message HeySmile Dental Clinic on WhatsApp or call 092-749-2829. If the crown and the tooth are still sound it can usually be re-cemented in one short visit for 1,500–2,000 THB; if not, the dentist explains the options.

Do I need a root canal before a crown?

Only if the nerve of the tooth is infected or dying. Many crowns are placed on teeth with a healthy nerve. If root canal treatment is needed, it is done first and the tooth may also need a post and core (3,500–5,000 THB) to hold the crown; see our root canal page.

How long do crowns and bridges last?

Often 10 years or more with good cleaning and regular check-ups, and many last well beyond 15 years. Decay at the edge of the crown, gum disease around the supporting teeth and grinding are what shorten their life, so clean under a bridge every day and wear a night guard if you grind.

Will my travel or dental insurance cover a crown or bridge in Bangkok?

That depends on your policy. You pay at the clinic and receive an itemised receipt in English showing each treatment, the tooth number and the material. Ask your insurer before you travel which documents they need for a claim.
